There’s a new local food business popping up around Slave Lake, and it is bringing more than just hot dogs to the community.
Big Wienies is a classic mobile hot dog cart proudly owned and operated by Ashley Lindbergh, together with team members Tori Verreault, Alexis Quinn, and Kathy Sippola. With its nostalgic atmosphere, classic rock and upbeat 2000s music, and generous selection of toppings, Big Wienies offers a fun and memorable food experience wherever the cart sets up.
The inspiration behind the business is especially meaningful to the family. The look, feel, and personality of Big Wienies were inspired by Larry Sippola, Ashley and Tori’s late grandfather and Kathy’s late father. Larry was known as a passionate grill guy who always had music playing wherever he went. That spirit now lives on through the business.
Big Wienies officially held its first pop-up on July 10, 2026, at the Canyon Creek Marina. Since then, the cart has continued making appearances throughout the Slave Lake area, including locations such as Renee Hall Plaza and Hilda Eben Park.
The Local's Favourite Order
One of the most popular orders is the Meal Deal, which includes a Big Wienie, a pop, and chips.
For those who like all the fixings, the most popular choice is the “Fully Loaded” Big Wienie, topped with onions, sauerkraut, jalapeños, cheese, ketchup, mustard, and relish.
Big Wienies’ main operating season runs from May through September, with monthly pop-up schedules shared on its Facebook page.

Big Wienies is also proud of its Indigenous roots. Owner Ashley Lindbergh is a member of Beaver Lake Cree Nation in Treaty 6.
The business is primarily operated by women, and the team brings together an impressive range of education and experience in microbiology, business, nutrition, marketing, and food safety.
