Community Futures Lesser Slave Lake Region is proud to feature Downtown Physiotherapy & Wellness Clinic, a growing local business dedicated to helping individuals and families improve mobility, recover from injuries, and live healthier, more active lives.

A Passion for Movement and Recovery

Ganesh Kathiresan
Ganesh Kathiresan

Founder Ganesh Kathiresan has always been passionate about helping people move better and return to the activities they love. His journey into physiotherapy began with a strong interest in how the human body works and how movement impacts overall health and well-being.

After completing both his Master’s degree and PhD in Physiotherapy, Ganesh built a career focused on rehabilitation, injury prevention, and empowering patients to take an active role in their recovery. Throughout his experience, he worked with a wide range of individuals—from athletes and office workers to seniors and those recovering from surgery or chronic pain.

What stood out most was the impact of personalized care. That realization inspired him to create a clinic where patients feel heard, supported, and actively involved in their treatment journey.

This vision led to the creation of Downtown Physiotherapy within the Boreal Wellness Collective—a space focused not only on treating symptoms but addressing the root causes of pain and supporting long-term health.

Growing to Better Serve the Community

As the clinic continued to grow, so did the demand for its services. This led to the decision to relocate and expand into a larger, more functional space designed to better meet the needs of the community.

The new location allows for:

  • More treatment rooms

  • Expanded rehabilitation and exercise areas

  • A more comfortable and welcoming environment

This investment reflects a long-term commitment to providing high-quality care while ensuring patients have the space, support, and tools needed for effective recovery.

Enhanced Care for Slave Lake Residents

With the new clinic space, Downtown Physiotherapy is now able to offer improved access, increased capacity, and a more personalized experience for patients.

The modern layout supports one-on-one treatment while also encouraging active participation in rehabilitation—helping patients stay engaged and motivated throughout their recovery journey.

A One-Stop Wellness Hub

One of the clinic’s most unique features is its integrated approach to health and wellness. Located within the Boreal Wellness Collective, the clinic offers a wide range of services all in one place, including:

  • Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy

  • Chiropractic and Massage Therapy

  • Acupuncture and Foot Care

  • 2D/3D Foot Assessment and Gait Program

  • Mental Health and Psychological Services

  • Women’s Health and Pranic Healing

  • Upcoming Medical Aesthetics and Beauty Services

This “one-stop wellness hub” approach makes it easier for patients to access comprehensive care without needing to travel to multiple locations.

What Sets the Clinic Apart

Downtown Physiotherapy & Wellness Clinic stands out through its commitment to:

  • Evidence-based, research-driven care

  • Highly individualized treatment plans

  • Advanced rehabilitation techniques

  • Faster access to care without requiring a physician referral

In addition, the clinic supports rural accessibility through telerehabilitation services, allowing patients in surrounding areas to receive professional care remotely when travel is a challenge.

For Ganesh, the most rewarding part of his work is the relationships built within the community.

Helping patients recover, regain confidence, and return to the activities they enjoy is what drives his passion every day. Being able to contribute to the overall health and well-being of Slave Lake is both meaningful and fulfilling.

Looking Ahead

Looking to the future, Downtown Physiotherapy & Wellness Clinic aims to continue growing as a comprehensive wellness hub for the region.

Plans include expanding services and introducing advanced technologies, such as AI-powered high-definition musculoskeletal ultrasound, to further enhance patient care through real-time, detailed imaging.
