Community Futures Lesser Slave Lake Region is proud to feature Pharmasave Slave Lake, a locally owned pharmacy dedicated to providing personalized, patient-centered care to our community.

A Vision Rooted in Care

Owner and pharmacist Nithish Bambila has been part of the Slave Lake community for over 14 years. After completing his pharmacy degree upgrade in British Columbia and earning his credentials as a Master of Pharmacy graduate, a licensed pharmacist with Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA), and a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), he spent more than a decade working with a major national retailer.

Over time, he felt a growing desire to do more. He envisioned a pharmacy where care could be more personal, more flexible, and truly focused on the needs of patients—without the limitations often found in large corporate settings. That vision led him to partner with Pharmasave and officially open Pharmasave Slave Lake in October 2023.

Supporting Healthcare in the Community

Since opening, Pharmasave has played an important role in supporting local healthcare. As prescribing pharmacists, the team helps bridge gaps when patients are unable to see their family doctor right away—providing timely access to care when it’s needed most.

In a small community like Slave Lake, this kind of accessibility makes a real difference.

Comprehensive Services for Patients and Families

Pharmasave Slave Lake is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care through a wide range of services, including:

  • Comprehensive medication reviews

  • Diabetes management support

  • Vaccinations and medication injections

  • Prescription extensions and adaptations

  • Initial access prescribing (APA)

  • Customized medication compounding (Level “C” accredited facility)

  • Free compliance packaging for patients

  • Support in finding cost-effective medication alternatives

Every service is designed with one goal in mind: making healthcare more accessible, efficient, and supportive for local residents.

What Makes Pharmasave Different

What sets Pharmasave apart is its independent, community-based model. Each location is owned and operated by local pharmacists who understand the unique needs of the community they serve.

This allows for a more personalized approach—where patients are not just numbers, but neighbors.

Like many rural businesses, Pharmasave has faced challenges—particularly in recruiting qualified pharmacy technicians and experienced staff. Training new team members has required additional time and effort, but it also reflects their commitment to building a strong, capable local workforce.

For Nithish and his team, the most rewarding part of the journey is the people. Slave Lake is a community filled with caring, supportive individuals, and Pharmasave is grateful for the trust they have received. Being able to contribute to the health and well-being of the region is something they value deeply.
